It is a balanced blend of erosion controlling, decorative, low water use native grass and flowers for revegetation of disturbed soil on slopes in the Berkeley hills (the 261Ai subsection ) of California. There is a quick start annual grass to protect soil, legumes to add nitrogen and organic matter yet allow the slower establishing perennial to do its permanent , low fuel, fine leaf cover in years to come. The establishment of this system will require some consideration and cost be allocated for initial maintenance primarily weed control, and the horticultural problem associated with the establishment of a perennial grass on subsoil. This problem can be addressed chemically or culturally. The common cultural practice of mowing, fertilizing and irrigation has been used successfully in the establishment of perennial crops. Yearly mowing and fertilizing may be required depending on esthetics of owners. The inclusion of HYDROPOST (has been used successfully in the establishment of perennial grass on low organic subsoil ) is an important amendment along with the mycorrhizae inoculant in the Hydroseed specification to address the horticultural problem in the installation phase of this system.
