California Bioregional Mixtures
Albright offers mixes for all 11 California bioregions that support the plant and animal populations in each community. The plants in each mix will be of local origin or be of a nature that will not displace local natives. All mixes are balanced blends of seed that belong in the specified region. Albright's recommendations come from a seed company that has been serving California since 1966.

A low cost, temporary erosion control solution. Once up, it will stabilize the soil at the surface. This saves valuable topsoil, costly repair and clean-up from runoff. BIOMASS Mix 1

For maximum organic biomass production - green manure plow down cover crop. Rapid low temperature establishment will stabilize the soil surface. Disking or plowing has the down side of exposing the soil to erosion, oxidation of organics and disruption of soil mycology. It is in the long run more expensive than reseeding or Perennial covers but tradition, lower initial cost and ease of establishment makes this mix a popular choice. Mowing can be used leaving the biomass to naturally incorporate from surface decomposition this can reduce summer weed establishment and is less costly and less destructive to soil. This mix saves and conditions valuable topsoil. It should be planted before the first rains. Does not reseed well, but plant residuals will protect soil surface the second year and add organics to pre-amend for subsequent crops.
